Body massage is often referred to as a holistic treatment, which means ‘treating the mind as well as the body’. It has become increasingly popular within the complementary therapies. Massage is one of the most enjoyable and relaxing activities one could ever experience. It is both physically and mentally relaxing. The therapeutic touch makes us feel good, relieving the stress and tension of everyday living, leaving a feeling of wellbeing and increased energy levels.

What Happens During a Massage?

A full body massage lasts for an hour. During your the treatment you will be asked to remove your clothing to your underwear, towels will be used to ensure your modesty. Your therapist may use oils or creams during the massage. These can help nourish the skin, and allow a free-flowing massage.

Can Anyone Enjoy a Massage?

This therapy is suitable for most adult’s but there are certain conditions where you should avoid massage. To ensure the continued well-being of clients, each client is required to fill in a consultation form, prior to their treatment. This is emailed upon booking and enables your therapist to make sure that massage is right for you.

In some instances your doctor’s permission may be required before treatments can commence, for example if you have a medical condition. A confidential record card will be kept with any relevant notes for future treatments. If you have any medical conditions or concerns, please check with your therapist prior to booking your appointment.

After Your Treatment

To gain maximum benefit from your massage, it is advisable to drink plenty of water and avoid alcohol in the hours immediately after the treatment. If you have any queries, don’t hesitate to ask your therapist for advice.

Massage is often used alongside conventional care in hospices, hospitals and other healthcare settings.

N.B: Massage should not be used in place of conventional medical care. Always consult a GP or other health professional for medical attention or advice.
